Poor old Spence was diagnosed with quite advanced arthritis in his hips on Monday. He'd been limping on and off for a couple of weeks. I just thought he'd strained his leg a little with all his struggling when he was last at the vet. He hadn't been limping or had any stiffness at all before that, so I'm hoping we'll be able to wean him off the pain meds he's on at the moment.
Anyway, I thought I'd try an 'old folks' theme for this weeks photo. Here's Spence rugged up in a shawl, lying on the front porch with a cup of tea. Unfortunately we don't have a rocking chair!
And here's a silly out-take!

20/52
The photo I had planned for this week didn't work out, so this is my boring last minute effort.
At least Spencer's expression saves the photo a bit. I think he was checking that a long thin cloud wasn't actually smoke from a skywriting plane. He hates those fake clouds!

In the spotlight
The only light source in this photo is my brother's car headlights. I like the spotlight effect and I think it makes Spence look a little bit dark and dangerous.

19/52
'Twas a crappy week for photography this week. I really had to push myself to pick up my camera. But I'm 19 weeks in, and I'm not gonna give up now! When I need a bit of extra motivation, I just think of the awesome book I'm going to make at the end of the year. Spence will be 10 years old in September, he's becoming an old man, and I feel like I need to make this book. Just in case.

Spencer is the best colour. He's red and tan, and while he looks brown under artificial lighting, he glows red in the sun. He also has little golden highlights behind his ears and through his coat.
Unfortunately, the sun was blocked by the trees when I took this photo, but you can still see the orange/red tinge in his coat. He almost blends into the Autumn leaves!

RedBubble Homepage feature!
I got a very pleasant surprise when I logged into RedBubble today. My photo of Spencer from last week (17/52) was featured on the homepage yesterday along with seven other beautiful photos.
Apparently less than three in a thousand works get featured on the homepage, so to say I'm chuffed is an understatement!
For those of you who don't know, RedBubble is a great online community for artists and art lovers alike. You can sell your own work, or buy cards, stickers, t-shirts, prints, calenders, canvases etc. by other talented artists.
You can check it out at http://www.redbubble.com/
And while you're there, you should look at (and buy!) my work here http://www.redbubble.com/people/-gila-
