4/52

Spence always holds his ears back when he's happy. It's a pain when I'm photographing him, because I like his fluffy ears and I always get a bunch of shots of him with a nice expression on his face, but NO EARS!

3/52

Posting last weeks photo late because I've been in Queenstown New Zealand for the last five days.

I missed that face when I was away!

2/52

Poor Spence had minor surgery yesterday to remove a grass seed from his foot. He's been moping around all day and feeling very sad and sorry for himself. You know how people say that dogs are generally quite stoic and don't always let you know when they're in pain? Well that doesn't apply to Spence, he's quite the drama queen! He was whinging and whining a little while ago and I thought, "Hmm, it's been a couple of hours since I took him outside, he probably needs to pee". Took him out the front on his leash and he went straight to a puddle and started lapping desperately. Why didn't he just have a drink inside if he was thirsty, you ask? Apparently getting up off the floor and walking 5 metres to his waterbowl was just toooo difficult!

52 Weeks of Spencer

I've decided to do a year-long photography project, 52 Weeks of Spencer. Every week I'll take one special photo of The Dog, and hopefully make a book with all of the images at the end.

This is 1/52

Needle-felting and Secret Santa

I finished my first proper needle-felted dog the other day. It's made in the likeness of a Rottweiler who belonged to another member of a dog forum I'm on. The sculpture was part of a Secret Santa gift and was posted off to my elf yesterday.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, but it's hind legs are a bit too long. I can't wait to see what my elf thinks of it! She should receive it tomorrow or Friday.

The Boys

These are my boys, Spencer and Steve. Spence is a nine year old Border Collie x Kelpie and he's my good boy. He doesn't like Steve (he's a bit scared of him!). Spence  loooves people and goes all wriggly and silly and gooey when people pat him.

Steve is the bad boy. He's a nine month old kitten we adopted from a shelter in June. I picked him because I thought he was a nice calm, cuddly cat. Turns out he had a bit of cat flu and that was why he was so calm. It was only when he recovered that he showed his true colours! Steve thinks he's a lion or tiger and he loves to attack people and chew any limbs he can reach. He also likes to charge at and harrass Spence any chance he gets.

Happy Halloween!

I don't actually celebrate Halloween, but it is a good excuse to dress up the dog and take photos! You've heard of Casper the friendly ghost? This is his lesser known cousin, Spencer the unhappy ghost.
